Nasalization Font Free Download: Official Regular + License

Nasalization Regular is free to download from official sources and free to use in commercial artwork, from posters and merchandise to video titles. It is the font that started as an extension of NASA’s “worm” logo. The free license is a desktop license for one person, so live website text, apps and editable templates need a paid license. The other 11 styles are $69.95 each, or $169.95 for the complete family on MyFonts (checked 17 October 2026).

Where to download Nasalization for free (official)

Nasalization is made by Typodermic Fonts. The DaFont ZIP (the button above) contains only Nasalization, and Typodermic’s license names DaFont as an authorized source. The same Regular is also in Typodermic’s 11.5 MB free desktop package at typodermicfonts.com/downloads.

Unlike the early uppercase-only versions, today’s Nasalization has a full lowercase. The free file covers 758 characters: Latin, 72 Greek and 130 Cyrillic characters. Vietnamese is close but six letters short, so test it before setting Vietnamese text.

What the free license allows

The ZIP includes the Typodermic Desktop EULA, version v260817, effective August 17, 2026. It is a desktop license for one person: you can use the font for commercial finished artwork, but not inside anything that lets someone else type with it.

Use Free styles
Logos, print, packaging, merchandise, images, video Allowed, commercial included
Live website text, webfonts, apps, games Not allowed
Editable templates you give or sell, print-on-demand systems Not allowed
Cutting-machine or embroidery alphabets Not allowed

Because of its NASA connection, one more caution: the font is free to use, but the NASA insignia and worm logo are separate marks. Setting a word in Nasalization does not give you any rights to NASA’s branding.

The license is the same for every free Typodermic font, so we explain it in full, section by section, in our guide to the Typodermic free font license.

The NASA story

Raymond Larabie released Nasalization on May 12, 1997. He started from the four letters of NASA’s “worm” logo, drawing them by eye rather than tracing, and extended that system into a full alphabet. The first versions were uppercase only, and early releases also came with outline, 3D and distressed styles, which he later dropped because they padded the family without helping designers.

CNN used Nasalization for its Crossfire branding. In 2021 Larabie was surprised to see it on NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover; he had no involvement and only found out from NASA’s own social media posts. The family was updated in June 2021 and again on November 25, 2024, when the weight names were reorganized. Only the Regular is free.

What the paid styles cost

The complete family has 12 styles: six weights from Thin to Heavy, each with an italic. MyFonts prices in USD, checked 17 October 2026:

With one style at $69.95 and the family at $169.95, the family pays off from the third paid style.

Free alternatives, compared

Branding set in Nasalization Regular, Audiowide and Orbitron Medium, with bars showing Audiowide 3 percent wider and Orbitron 2 percent wider
Same size, same word. Both alternatives are within 3% of Nasalization’s width.
  • Audiowide (Google Fonts, SIL Open Font License) is the closest in spirit: rounded, technical, with the same space-age feel. It is 3% wider on the word “Branding”.
  • Orbitron Medium is 2% wider and more geometric, with squarer counters.
  • Neither has Nasalization’s NASA-derived letter shapes, but both are free for websites and apps, which the free Nasalization is not.

Quick answers

Is Nasalization the official NASA font? No. It was inspired by the NASA worm logo and created independently by Raymond Larabie. NASA has used it, but it is not a NASA typeface.

Is Nasalization free for commercial use? The Regular is, for finished artwork. Websites, apps and templates need a paid license.

Is the bold or italic free? No. Only the Regular is free.
